Lessons, whether on school horses or individually owned horses, are sold by the month and are billed accordingly. Whether there are 4 or 5 lessons in any one month, the cost remains the same. We require 24 hours notice for lesson cancellations (for any reason) and provide make-up lessons when this notice is met or when we must cancel a lesson due to weather, instructor illness or other causes.
Make-up lessons must be scheduled in advance through the office and may be upgraded from group to private for a small additional fee. Make-up lessons are in addition to your regular scheduled lessons. Make-ups are good as long as your account is on going and in good standing. Make-up lessons that are un-used when accounts are closed or are not in good standing have no cash value.
School horses are assigned to riders by Stonehouse Stables based on rider ability as well as horse and pony availability. The rider is responsible to provide approved footwear and, once a beginner package is completed, need to supply their own approved headgear (helmet). Riders, assisted by parents when needed, are responsible for grooming and tacking/untacking before and after lessons and must return all tack in clean, serviceable condition. Youth package riders are assisted by instructors until parents or other helpers are ready to assist.
You will find our tack room, where tack is inspected by our staff on a regular basis, both clean and neat. Always ask your instructor or any of our staff for any help you need when preparing for a lesson or caring for horse and tack when your lesson is completed.
All riders agree to abide by the rules and policies of the barn and must sign a release form prior to mounting any horse on our property. Lesson riders, or their parent or guardian, will also need to sign our lesson agreement before lessons begin.
